BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Police say a man was shot by his wife’s boyfriend in Brentwood on Sunday.
Metro Nashville Police said 48-year-old Michael Thomson was shot three times at his wife’s home on Rossi Road.
According to a police report, Thomson and his wife live in different houses. They were at his wife’s house picking up belongings after a trip to New York when Thomson went inside the home.
Police said a “recent boyfriend” of his wife, Jeffrey Potts, was also inside the house. Potts reportedly did not have a key and had been staying there but was not expected to be home.
Potts told police he saw Thomson come into house but did not see his girlfriend with him, so he shot Thomson.
Potts claimed Thomson had been threatening him by text and email, according to the police report.
Thomson was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. At last check, he was in stable condition.
Potts was arrested and charged with aggravated assault after speaking with investigators. He is being held on a $100,000 bond.
