EVERETT, Wash. — One man is in custody and police are searching for another following a frightening home invasion robbery and high-speed police pursuit early Wednesday morning.
Around 2:30 a.m., Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies received a call that two men with pistols and bandannas covering their faces were robbing a residence in the 8700 block of Gothic Way near Everett. The men left the scene, but sheriff’s deputies were able to spot their getaway vehicle and followed it onto Interstate 5.
A high-speed pursuit began, police said, and was slowed a short time later when police deployed a spike strip and disabled the car. The suspects’ vehicle exited I-5 near Shoreline and crashed into the Jackson Golf Course.
The two suspects fled the car on foot. A deputy, with the help of a K-9, managed to track down and arrest a 31-year-old male. He was booked in Snohomish County Jail for investigation of first-degree burglary and first-degree robbery.
The second suspect, however, was not found. The search was suspended around 5:30 a.m., deputies said.
Everett police believe an AR-15 assault rifle was stolen from the home.
Anyone with information on the robberies or suspects is encouraged to call 911
