Court docs: 2-year-old girl thrown out window, beaten at Vancouver motel

VANCOUVER, Wash. — A toddler is in critical condition after authorities say she was severely beaten by her father at a Vancouver motel.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that the 2-year-old was injured by at the Sunnyside Motel around 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Court documents state that the toddler was thrown out the window by her father. He then picked her up before throwing her to the ground repeatedly, KOIN reports.

Arriving deputies found the man kicking the child. Authorities say a resident at the hotel tried to intervene using a baseball bat. Deputies used a Taser to subdue the suspect.

The injured girl was taken to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland, where she was listed in critical condition.

The suspect, a 32-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

After treatment he was booked into jail on an attempted murder charge, with bail set at $1 million.

No charges were expected for the resident who used the baseball bat on the suspect.
